Will America's deer turn into "Omicron tanks"... A real warning of more deadly mutant?

American sources have expressed their deep concern over the transmission of the “Omicron” virus to deer, which has alarmed scientists and increased fears due to the presence of a large number of deer in the country, with an estimated number of about 1.5 million white-tailed deer and 30 million deer in general. The virus is transmitted between animals and humans in a sequence, which contributes to its evolution and mutation in a way that makes it more deadly and intractable to vaccines.

Researchers at Penn State University identified nearly 20 white-tailed deer on Staten Island in New York that had been infected with the omicron mutant within about a year.

These results, which have not yet been scientifically reviewed, are considered the first cases of omicron spread among wild animals, as infected species cause the transmission of the mutated virus to other types of mammals on Earth, such as humans, to name a few.

And the US Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of coronavirus infections among white-tailed deer in 15 states, according to the report published in “Business Insider.”

Associate Director of the Animal Diagnostics Laboratory in Pennsylvania Scientists are concerned that deer could act as a “reservoir” for the coronavirus, even after Covid-19 has become endemic to humans.

According to the report published in the scientific journal “Sciencealert”, and reported by “Sputnik” agency, it;

In a worst-case scenario, the virus in deer may evolve to acquire new skills to avoid vaccines, and then pass to humans as a more lethal mutated.

It is worth noting that scientists have discovered the virus in cats, dogs, ferrets, mink, pigs and rabbits.

But they pay close attention to white-tailed deer for several reasons: "In addition to being highly susceptible to infection, white-tailed deer are abundant in the United States and live in close proximity to humans."
