According to an interview with the people concerned, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is adjusting the vaccination of the new coronavirus vaccine to children aged 5 to 11 so that it is not an "obligation to make efforts" for parents for the time being.

He decided that it was appropriate to wait for sufficient data on the effectiveness of the Omicron strain.

Last month, a subcommittee of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, which was made by experts, examined how to proceed with Pfizer's vaccine from 5 to 11 years old. Expert opinions will be divided, and discussions will be held again on the 10th.

Initially, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare was considering making it an "effort obligation" for parents, but for the time being, we found that we are making adjustments so that it is not an "effort obligation".

Since the efficacy of the child's vaccine against the Omicron strain has not been reported overseas, sufficient data are available to gain widespread understanding that it is mandatory to inoculate children who are less likely to become severely ill. It means that it is appropriate to wait.

On the 10th, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will discuss the policy with a subcommittee of experts and discuss how to call on parents to inoculate.
