Last year, her mother and her dating partner were arrested on suspicion of extortion for repeated abuses such as having a 5-year-old girl stand in a pot for a long time in Okayama City.

The girl died last month and police are investigating the details.

In response to her investigation, her mother denied her charges, saying, "It wasn't what I did."

Both were arrested by Saya Nishida (34), who lives in Okayama City, and Seiji Funabashi (38), an interior worker who is a dating partner.

According to police, in September last year, at Nishida's home, they pulled the hair of their daughter, Ms. Maai (5 at the time), and let them stand in a pot placed on a chair for nearly 6 hours until dawn. In addition, there is a suspicion of coercion for repeated abuse, such as standing up in the same way on another day and spraying the upper body with a liquid that seems to be water and continuing to blow the fan.

Ms. Maai was taken unconscious last September and was diagnosed with brain death at the hospital, and she died last month.

Police are investigating her details, as she had no noticeable injuries to her body.

In response to the investigation, Funabashi admits the suspicion.

Nishida denies the charges, saying, "I don't think it was something I did, so I think it's strange to be an accomplice."

Child guidance center also provides temporary protection

In response to this incident, Okayama City held a press conference and revealed that it had been aware of the abuse for three years and had temporarily protected Ms. Maai who died.

According to Okayama City, in April three years ago, an outside report was made to the child guidance center that her mother's dating partner suspected violence against Ms. Maai.

According to a city investigation, Ms. Maai had a bruise about the size of a 10-yen coin, so she couldn't stop the violence from her dating partner, and her mother abandoned childcare. It means that it was judged that the abuse was being carried out.

In September, there was a report that Ms. Maai was erected in the graveyard and was scolded violently by her mother's dating partner, and the child guidance center temporarily protected Ms. Maai for two weeks.

In addition to this, there were two reports of suspected abuse, and the child guidance center shared information with the police and conducted home visits and interviews to confirm the situation.

Okayama City will set up a council of outside experts to verify whether there were any problems with the series of responses.

Chisato Endo, Deputy Director of the Okayama Children's Development Bureau, Okayama City, said, "It is a pity that such an incident occurred while the administrative agency was involved, and we take it seriously. I would like to verify if there are any points that need to be improved. "
