Seven years after his arrival in France, Zazaï is back near the sidewalk on which he spent many nights.
But not to resettle there: the young Afghan, who speaks admirable French and has become an electrician, fortunately no longer suffers from extreme poverty.
He is only there to testify to his experience as an immigrant and the difficulties encountered before successfully integrating.
“My parents were against the Taliban and didn't want me to join up, so they gathered all their savings to get me across the border,” recalls Zazaï, who was only 15 when he went into exile.
Before I left, my mother made me promise never to smoke or drink.
And even if the stress sometimes made me think about it, I am proud, today, to have kept this promise!

"I have not been given any gifts"
He has since done much more since he passed his driving licence, a CAP and a professional electrician's baccalaureate and even ended up obtaining French nationality!
"I worked a lot, I fought to get all this because I wasn't given any gifts... but today, I don't regret the choice my family made by sending me to France ".
Discover the testimony of this remarkable example of integration in this video from our partner Brut.
