Snow removal work has begun for the opening of the mountain sightseeing route "Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route" in the Northern Alps in April.

The popular "Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route", which runs between the snow walls, is closed due to heavy snow during the winter and reopens around April every year.

To this end, the snowplow association created by Toyama Prefecture and the operating company "Tateyama Kurobe Kanko" started snowplow work on the 8th, and a large snowplow at the Fujihashi Gate in Tateyama Town, which is the starting point of the connecting road on the Toyama Prefecture side. Two cars were paving the way.

From next week, workers will stay at the site and plan to use 21 large snowplows to remove snow from the section of about 31 km to Murodo at an altitude of 2450 meters.

According to the Snow Removal Association, there are many snowy days this winter, with Fujibashi having a snowfall of 1 meter and 60 centimeters, which is 20 centimeters higher than normal, and Murodo, which has a snowfall of 7 meters and 10 centimeters, which is 1 meter and 50 centimeters higher than normal.

Makoto Ishihara, director of the Toyama Prefectural Road Corporation Tateyama Toll Road Management Office, said, "Since there is a lot of snow, it will be a struggle against time toward the scheduled opening date, but I want to proceed with snow removal with safety first. I want you to feel the wonderful scenery and the refreshing air. "

Most of the Alpine Route, including "Snow Corridor," is scheduled to open on April 15.
