Sea sickness ?

Charlette does not know, she who has been "floating" for almost forty years on the Seine: at 90, this "freshwater sailor" lives, all year round, on a small boat moored in the Parisian port of Arsenal , a former commercial basin that has become a marina.

"As soon as we are on the boat, below the boulevards Bourdon and de la Bastille, we do not hear a sound", rejoices the old lady.

Although the space in which she lives is a bit cramped, it has been skilfully arranged: “bedroom, bathroom with shower, equipped kitchen… I don't miss anything!

And with 700 euros of monthly rent in the heart of Paris, we are not going to complain, ”she smiles.

Alone but (very) well surrounded

To those who think it must not be easy to live alone and “isolated” at such an advanced age, Charlette explains that “If I was in an apartment, I wouldn't see anyone.

While here, I am surrounded: I had lunch this afternoon with one of my neighbors;

and without hearing from me for two days in a row, the captaincy calls me to find out if everything is fine”.
