For 69% of French people, animal welfare is an electoral campaign theme that must be addressed by candidates for the presidential election, in the same way as ecology, safety or purchasing power.

This was revealed on Thursday by an Ifop poll.

55% of people questioned say they might not vote for a candidate in the next presidential election if he or she defends hunting.

70% of people saying they intend to vote for Jean-Luc Mélenchon, 69% of Yannick Jadot and nearly 50% of Emmanuel Macron declare the defense of hunting as a dissuasive element likely to modify their vote.

A very large majority of French people, ever more numerous survey after survey, expect candidates for the #ElectionPrésidentielle2022 to take ambitious measures to fight against #SufffranceAnimale.

In addition, 76% of French people want hunting banned on Sundays and during school holidays.

Among the “ambitious and concrete” measures in favor of animals, 85% of respondents want the government to put an end to intensive farming and ban the transport of live animals.

They ask that the transport of meat be done only after slaughter.

90% call for the end of all animal experimentation when it is shown that alternative methods can be used instead and 77% want the end of bullfighting in France.

In France, where one in two people owns a pet, 59% declare themselves in favor of the compulsory sterilization of pets to avoid the proliferation of animals, a source of abandonment.

The survey was conducted for the 30 Million Friends Foundation.

It was conducted from January 20 to 24, 2022 with a sample of 1,007 people, representative of the French population aged 18, according to the quota method.
