The Japan Meteorological Agency plans to announce information on the possibility of occurrence of the "linear precipitation zone", which is a series of developed cumulonimbus clouds that cause heavy rainfall, from the heavy rain season.

We would like to start on a local basis and make it even more detailed in the future, but experts have pointed out that "careful discussion based on the accuracy of forecasts is necessary."

The "Linear Precipitation Zone" has been repeatedly confirmed due to heavy rain disasters so far, such as the heavy rains in western Japan in 2018 and the heavy rains in July 2018, and there is a risk that the situation will worsen in a short time.

For this reason, the Japan Meteorological Agency is aiming to strengthen the water vapor observation system and improve the prediction accuracy by the supercomputer "Tomitake", and plans to announce information that it may occur half a day in advance.

From this heavy rain season, we will release it in each region such as "Kanto Koshin" and "Northern Kyushu".

After that, we plan to narrow the scope, and in the 6th year of Reiwa next year, we would like to make it by prefecture, and in 11th year of Reiwa, we would like to make it by municipality.

In addition, we are considering information that calls for caution just before the actual rain, so that we can announce the information about 30 minutes before next year and a few hours before Reiwa 8 years. It means that we are proceeding with research.

On the other hand, experts said, "I don't know how much prediction accuracy will be guaranteed at this point. Careful discussion is required to set goals." It should be considered carefully. "

As discussions have begun to drastically review disaster prevention information related to weather, which is considered to be difficult to understand due to the large number of information, it will be asked whether the information will lead to actual preparation.
