Its success rate is 80% .. a simple test that predicts a heart attack a year before it occurs

Scientists and researchers have come up with an accurate way to measure the possibility of a heart attack in patients next year, through an examination they conduct inside the retina through artificial intelligence.

According to the agency “Sputnik”, scientists have developed an artificial intelligence (AI) system that can analyze eye examinations performed during routine visits to an eye specialist or an eye clinic, as the system can identify patients at risk of a heart attack in the next year.

In new research conducted by the University of Leeds, scientists tested an advanced system of artificial intelligence "trained" to read traditional retinal scans in search of signs of heart disease, as the new system can predict whether patients are at risk of a heart attack within the next year.

This technology has the potential to revolutionize cardiology screening, as retina scans are relatively cheap and are routinely used in many eye specialist practices.

As a result of automated screening, patients at high risk of developing the disease can be referred to cardiologists, and scans can also be used to track early signs of heart disease.

According to the research published in the scientific journal Nature Machine Intelligence, doctors realized that changes in the tiny blood vessels in the retina are indicators of broader vascular disease, including heart problems.

The researchers used deep learning techniques, a complex series of algorithms, to train the AI system to automatically read retinal scans and identify people who are likely to have a heart attack in the following year.
