The pages of the evening newspaper turn but remain in the same hands.

The Le Monde group announced on Tuesday the sale by investment banker Matthieu Pigasse of almost all of his stake to his partner Xavier Niel.

However, this operation has “no impact” on the control of the group.

In detail, Matthieu Pigasse sees his stake in the company Le Nouveau Monde (LNM) drop from 51% to 2%.

Xavier Niel now owns 49%, like Czech businessman Daniel Kretinsky.

The operation was carried out recently and "in full agreement with Matthieu Pigasse and Daniel Kretinsky", specified the group.

The LNM company simultaneously became “a simple limited partnership”, of which Matthieu Pigasse is “the sole partner and general partner”, the operation resulting in “no change of control” of this company.

LNM is one of the shareholders of the company "Le Monde libre" (LML), which is itself the "reference shareholder" of the Le Monde group, in which it holds 72.5% of the capital, with general partners Matthieu Pigasse and Xavier Niel, and of which neither the capital nor the control are modified.

"Xavier Niel has also undertaken to ensure that all the LML securities he holds, directly or indirectly, will be contributed to the Fund for the Independence of the Press, an endowment fund created last year", recalled The World group.

The Spanish press group Prisa owns 20% of the company Le Monde libre.

The remainder of the newspaper's capital is held by the “independence division”, which notably includes staff companies and the society of Le
