Disney has reacted to Peter Dinklage's heavy criticism of its upcoming live-action remake of
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
During an interview with Marc Maron's WTF podcast, the interpreter of Tyrion Lannister in
Game of Thrones
had lambasted a "fucking backward story where seven dwarves live together in a cave".
"To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we're taking a different approach with these seven characters and consulting with members of the dwarfism community," a Disney spokesperson said in a statement reported by
Variety.
“We look forward to sharing more as the film enters production after a long period of development.

A problematic representation of short people
The remake of
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
is directed by Marc Webb, known for directing
(500) Days Together and the
Amazing Spider-Man
movies
starring Andrew Garfield.
Rachel Zegler, the heroine of Steven Spielberg's
West Side Story
, will play the title role, while
