Journalist Caroline Fourest, columnist for "Marianne" finds herself at the heart of a controversy after revelations from the media "Arrêt sur Images".

She is said to have put pressure on the deputy editor not to publish an investigation into the author Thomas NLend, for whom she signed the preface to a book-investigation published on January 12.

and member of the supervisory board of the group that owns the newspaper, finds herself at the heart of a controversy linked to the author Thomas NLend.

It all starts with the publication of the book-investigation

Les bouffons de la hatred 

last January 12, signed by the latter and prefaced by Caroline Fourest who promotes it in the media.

It recounts the infiltration between 2011 and 2014 of Thomas NLend in Alain Soral's far-right movement, Egalité & Réconciliation.

Only last week, our colleagues from Arrêt sur Images published an article in which they explain that Thomas NLend would not have really infiltrated the far-right movement of Alain Soral, he would indeed have been a real supporter of 'Equality & Reconciliation, according to court documents accessed by journalists.

An assertion denied by Caroline Fourest on her blog. 

“Intolerable pressures”

But the affair does not stop there because it also shakes up

Marianne

's writing . Caroline Fourest, herself a columnist at

Mariann

e and a member of the supervisory board of the CMI group which owns the magazine, is said to have pressured a journalist from the editorial staff, Gabriel Libert, so that he does not publish an investigation on Thomas NLend. A survey that was published in July 2020. 

Tuesday evening, the society of editors of Marianne therefore published a press release in which it strongly denounces the attacks of Caroline Fourest against Gabriel Libert.

She stresses in particular "that it is highly problematic for a columnist of

Marianne

and member of the supervisory board to pressure, overwhelm and attack one of the journalists of her own editorial staff".

In this press release, the society of editors of

Marianne 

denounces "intolerable pressure" from the columnist, "by telephone", against the journalist, so that "he gives up publishing his article".

The company of editors finally specifies that the position of Caroline Fourest within the newspaper, "seems untenable".
