Cité
by Nicolas Geibel, published on January 6, 2022 by Éditions Julliard.
His favorite quote:
“In a world of terror, anyone can, at any time, become an agent of a forbidden cause. (…) Everyone can, by his gestures and thoughts, be designated as the enemy. »
Why this book?
Because endowed with a style of writing that is both very raw and very figurative
, this noir novel acts with hypnotic power.
Because the mystery remains unsolved as to the content of the photos
which plunged ordinary individuals into madness.
And as for the motivation of the culprit(s) to engender such unreason.
Because the theme of terrorism is not far away,
despite the absence of violence strictly speaking.
Because the psychological aspect of the characters is set aside,
which will appeal to those whose raw realism comes first.
Because the atmosphere distilled in this investigation is oppressive
and it is a whole particular universe that the author shapes.

The author.
Nicolas Geibel was born in 1990 in Germany.
Arrived in France at the age of 23, he has a German degree and teaches in the Paris suburbs.
City
is his first novel.
This book was read hypnotized by
the way that has Nicolas Geibel to set up the oppressive atmosphere of his black novel.
It is a whole reflection without concession on the nature of violence.
A read that will haunt you for a long time.
