Don Wilson, one of the founding members of the American rock band "The Ventures" that caused the electric guitar boom in Japan, died on the 22nd.

Don Wilson, a guitarist from Washington State in the western United States, formed the rock band "The Ventures" in the late 1950s.


"The Ventures" released hit songs such as "Diamond Head" and "Pipeline" one after another, including "Walk Don't Run" which became No. 2 on the US Open chart in 1960. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.



The guitar performance known for "Teke ​​Teke Sound", which has a deep connection with Japan, has gained popularity and has caused an electric guitar boom, and has held concert tours almost every year since the first visit to Japan in the 1960s.


For these achievements, Wilson received the Order of the Rising Sun in 2010 along with other members.
