David Bowie is the artist who has sold the most vinyl records during the beginning of the 21st century.

According to data analyzed by Music Week, no fewer than 582,704 Thin White Duke vinyl records have been sold since 2000.

A feat which can be explained on the one hand by an immense discography made up of 26 studio albums and 21 live albums, and on the other hand by the rebound of the vinyl market in recent years.

What to see coming

However, David Bowie is followed by very serious competitors: the Beatles.

Indeed, the British quartet has sold 535,596 vinyl records over the past two decades with a discography that is much less extensive than that of David Bowie.

Moreover, the interpreter of

Heroes

only occupies third place on the podium for the year 2021 alone, just behind Taylor Swift, while the Beatles sit in first place.

However, David Bowie is far from having said his last word with the very recent release of

Toy

, a posthumous album recorded in 2000.

Finally, with the purchase by Warner Music of the entire catalog of the singer, it's a safe bet that his immense work will continue to be exploited for decades.
