Spain continues to lead organ donations and transplants despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The ONT registers a total of 2,950 kidney transplants, 1,078 liver, 362 lung, 302 heart, 82 pancreas and 7 intestine, from 1,905 deceased donors and 324 living donors.

Despite the pandemic, the

performance of 227 transplants in zero urgency and 159 children stands out

, with a significant decrease in the pediatric waiting list.

Likewise, 123 hyperimmunized kidney patients have been transplanted, thanks to the PATHI program of the ONT.

The donation of people who died of neurodegenerative diseases

also stands out

: 35 people with ALS donated their organs.

Six autonomous communities exceed 50 donors per million population: Cantabria (72.4), Navarra (62.1), Murcia (52.3), Asturias (51.5), the Basque Country (50.7) and the Valencian Community (50.3).
