On the morning of the 21st, Li Zongzhen, a 23-year-old connector at Mianyang North Station, was busy on the shunting yard.

On the empty platform, the wind was blowing, he sometimes stood beside the locomotive, sometimes "hung" on the train, and sometimes walked between the tracks, lifting the coupler, taking off the hose, tightening the handbrake...

The Spring Festival is approaching, and the New Year's goods are about to begin.

China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd. Mianyang Depot's cargo transportation volume continues to increase.

In the cargo yard of Mianyang North Station, there are more and more "New Year's goods" materials such as grain, ham, frozen meat, and edible oil.

From January 1 to 21, the annual freight of various types of goods arriving and departing from Mianyang North Station was 1,926 vehicles and 121,600 tons, an increase of 11% year-on-year.

To complete the work with quality and quantity, it is inseparable from such a group of connectors who "thread the needle" for the train.

Experts call the trains that need to be regrouped the unruly "iron dragons", and the group is collectively known as "dragon trainers."

"Post-95" linker Li Zongzhen is such a "Dragon Trainer".

During the Spring Festival travel period this year, his main job was to deliver the trains loaded with New Year's goods to the freight yard and the special line for unloading in time according to the shunting operation plan, so as to be transported to the festival markets in Mianyang and surrounding cities as soon as possible.

"The car is here, ready to get off the track." Li Zongzhen jumped and stood beside the designated carriage.

After the train stops, remove the air duct between the two trains and disconnect the coupler, then grab the iron fence with both hands, climb up the iron ladder hanging on the outside of the carriage in a few steps, and turn the brake disc vigorously to completely fix the stopped carriage. , which is an action he repeats countless times every day.

If the train doesn't stop, Li Zong really can't stop at work.

Li Zongzhen said: "We work regardless of holidays. We work in four shifts, and we can't be shaken by the day and night. With the Spring Festival approaching, there are many goods and vehicles, and the work is busier than usual."

The last task of their team that day was to send 7 boxcars full of rice, corn, flour and other grains to the special line for the grain reserve near Mianyang North Station.

The driver's line of sight was obstructed because the marshalled train drove into the grain depot in reverse.

Li Zongzhen, who was standing at the back of the train, was like a pair of eyes growing on the back of the train driver's head, always ready to blow the whistle and signal to stop in the event of an emergency.

I saw him clasping the escalator with both hands, his body sticking straight to the wagon, his eyes bright and vigilant.

To the grain reserve, although the distance is only a few kilometers, but because of the slow speed of advancement, Li Zongzhen has to maintain this action for more than 20 minutes against the cold wind.

"It is very tiring to hang on it, the arm strength is unbearable, and the place where the foot is stressed is very small, and it will be more painful after standing for a long time. The intensity of work is one aspect, and more importantly, it may occur if you are not careful in each link. Dangerous, the worse the weather, the more you have to cheer up." Li Zongzhen said.

150 meters, 140 meters, 130 meters... Li Zongzhen moved synchronously with the train. His eyes were like a ruler.

The train is like a tamed dragon, it stops and goes, and the speed slows down little by little.

Slowly, as the seven boxcars were thrown into the designated area, Li Zongzhen and his colleagues successfully completed the work, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

The Spring Festival in 2022 is approaching. When it comes to New Year's wishes, Li Zongzhen said: "Although I couldn't serve passengers directly, I saw a train of trucks lined up and headed to all parts of the country safely and on time. Countless holiday materials were taken from them." Flying to thousands of households, a sense of pride will arise in my heart, and I feel that my perseverance and dedication are worth it!" (End)
