Saudi Arabia .. 7 divorce cases every hour in 2022

The Saudi newspaper "Al-Watan" revealed that the Kingdom has witnessed, during the past ten years, a remarkable rise in divorce cases, particularly since 2011.

The total number of divorce certificates, according to the data of the Saudi General Authority for Statistics, reached 57,595 during the last months of 2020, up from 12.7% in 2019.

The Saudi newspaper, Al-Watan, monitored a rise in divorce cases during the last 10 years, specifically since 2011, when the number of divorces in that year was 34,000, then increased during these ten years by 60%.

Divorce cases increased in 2022 compared to previous years. The number of divorce cases in 2010 was 9,233. According to reports in the current year, there are 7 divorce cases every hour in the Kingdom, which makes that for every 10 marriage cases there are 3 divorce cases.

According to Al-Watan newspaper, the approach of women to reaching the limits of self-sufficiency, in addition to the attention and care that she finds, whether at the official level from the public sector, or from the non-profit charitable sector, contributed to making her more independent on the financial level, and contributed to increasing her ability to take decisions. The decision to separate or to demand it without fearing the consequences of the traditional separation.
