Several clashes erupted Thursday on the Caribbean island, where a gendarme was injured with live ammunition in Pointe-à-Pitre.
Four individuals were arrested, including a minor, the prefect said in a statement.
The vital prognosis of the gendarme is not engaged and an investigation has been opened.
Last week, the collective of organizations mobilized against the vaccination obligation called on the whole island to join a “dead island” day and to “mobilize everywhere, in the street and in front of businesses”.
" Return to calm "
Against the backdrop of contestation of the vaccination obligation, the administrative building of the Basse-Terre hospital center was targeted by around forty people who tried to enter it.
In the town of Abymes, on the sidelines of looting, the police were attacked by the throwing of various projectiles, stones, Molotov cocktails or bolts, according to police sources.
The mayor of Pointe-à-Pitre, Harry Durimel, lamented on Friday that “again this morning, the city is waking up with a hangover”.
The prefect of the Guadeloupe region "condemned" the acts of violence and called "everyone to return to calm".
