Academician Wu Mengchao is an expert in hepatobiliary surgery, and his late wife, Professor Wu Peiyu, is an expert in obstetrics and gynecology.
On the same day, the couple, who had been with each other for 60 years, were buried together in the East Garden of Fushou Garden - Fenghe Garden.
Professor Chen Xunru was the first graduate student trained by Mr. Wu. At the age of 81, he came from Kunming to pay his respects.
Chen Xunru said that Academician Wu Mengchao is very kind and caring about students. Even if he is 81 years old, he will come to Fushouyuan to visit his teacher.
