[Global Web Report] According to Hong Kong's "Wen Wei Po", the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, met with reporters this morning (18th) before attending the Executive Council.

Regarding the progress of the investigation into suspected violations by the former flight attendants of Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong, Lin Zhengyue said that yesterday, two former flight attendants of Cathay Pacific Airlines had been prosecuted for violating the "Prevention and Control of Disease Regulations".

As for Cathay Pacific's "passenger flight, cargo flight back" operation method, it will further investigate whether it violated the exemption arrangement with the SAR government.

The SAR government released a press release last night saying that the police arrested and charged two former airline flight attendants on January 17 for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation (Cap. 599A) (Cap. 599A).

The investigation showed that the two indicted were airline flight attendants and flew to Hong Kong from the United States on December 24 and December 25, 2021, respectively.

During the period of medical surveillance, they conducted unnecessary activities on December 25 and December 27, 2021, respectively, in violation of Cap. 599A.

Both of them were later diagnosed with a variant strain of the new coronavirus pneumonia virus, Omicron, and have now completed treatment and left the hospital.

The police arrested two people on suspicion of violating section 15(3) of Cap. 599A on the 17th and charged them on the 17th after seeking legal advice.

They have been released on bail and their cases will be heard in Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts and Eastern Magistrates' Courts on February 9.

The SAR Government Press Release mentioned that under section 15(3) of Cap. 599A, any person who fails to comply with the conditions specified by the health officer commits an offence and is liable upon conviction to a fine at level 2 (HK$5,000) and imprisonment for 6 months.
