On the eve of the next hearing scheduled for January 19, as part of a lawsuit related to the termination of the guardianship of singer Britney Spears, it became known that the artist's father, James Spears, and a number of lawyers received more than $ 36 million during custody.

Acting as a guardian, James Spears paid himself at least $6.3 million from his daughter's estate, according to documents filed by the artist's lawyer Matthew Rosengart.

The amount of payments to dozens of different law firms amounted to more than $ 30 million, writes Variety.

The documents also say that in 2015, the singer's father tried to launch his own cooking show called Cookin' Cruzin' and Chaos with Jamie Spears.

James Spears reportedly approached a music supervisor who had collaborated with his daughter to help record the commercial.

"Mr. Spears used his position as guardian to persuade Ms. Spears' touring staff to help him establish a career in Hollywood through his catering business," the documents read.

The materials were presented after James Spears tried in December to force his daughter to pay his lawyers' fees through the courts.

Then the singer's father said that this was necessary "for the quick and effective termination of guardianship."

He emphasized that he "dedicated himself to protecting the health and assets of his daughter, as he did throughout her life", selflessly performed his duties, and as a result incurred expenses "due to unfounded claims."

"Mr. Spears, the infamously estranged guardian whose guardianship has been terminated, is now looking to make even more money out of his daughter," according to new material compiled by the Britney Spears side.

The drafters of the documents believe that the artist's father should be obliged to cover his legal expenses on his own.

“If he has already spent these funds, then let him consider hiring another lawyer, whose services cost less and will be affordable for him,” the lawyers recommend.

Also, representatives of Britney Spears filed a declaration with former FBI special agent Sherine Ebadi, who was previously hired by the Rosengart law firm to assist in conducting an ongoing investigation into the actions of James Spears. The document notes that the singer does not agree with her father's demand to pay his legal costs. The authors also write about Britney Spears' father's "authoritarian approach" to guardianship of his daughter and how he put "his own interests ahead of his daughter's interests, while seeking the favor of other parties, including Tri Star and its founder Louise Taylor, before which he previously had financial debt obligations.

Britney Spears was under the care of her father from 2008 to 2021.

In 2020, the singer began to fight for her release.

She stated that she could not manage her own time - her every step was under control.

Also, according to the artist, she was given inappropriate medicines.

Then the court did not go towards the singer.

Later, she won permission to choose her own lawyer, which changed the course of the case.

In September 2021, James Spears was removed from his duties as guardian, and in November the guardianship was completely terminated.

Later, information appeared about the possible illegal enrichment at the expense of Britney Spears of financial manager and head of Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group, Louise Taylor, whose activities were associated with a history of guardianship. According to a report published on The New York Times website, in 2008, James Spears applied to the Taylor Company for a loan, after which he received guardianship of his daughter. He later hired Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group to manage his daughter's finances.

Soon, an account was opened in the name of the artist in a small company.

One of its owners is Louise Taylor.

In addition, the Spears Charitable Foundation sponsored a Christian organization with which Taylor and her husband are associated.

James Spears himself also transferred funds to the account of the Taylor-run church.

Louise Taylor also received legal fees on behalf of Britney Spears.
