Less than two weeks ago, Christian Estrosi confirmed the holding of a Nice Carnival in 2022 but in a different format due to the health crisis, and even "without corso".
This Monday, the mayor told
Nice-Matin
that the traditional float parades will be there from February 11 to 27, but with a reduced gauge.
“We are going up the stands”, confirmed the municipality at
20 Minutes
this Monday.
There will be two with 2,000 seats each on Place Masséna, and two others with 500 seats facing the statue of Apollo.
Either, enough to install 5,000 spectators instead of just over 8,000 in other years.
Promenades on avenue de Verdun if the situation changes
The elected official specifies to the regional daily that the device may still need to evolve, “if the health situation improves by Carnival and if the restrictions are lifted”, but the stands will no longer move.
“As we will no longer have time to build additional bleachers, we will open walkways on avenue de Verdun.
We will thus go up to 12,000 spectators, ”he explains.
For the moment, the incidence rate in the Nice metropolitan area stands at 3,148 positive cases for Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the latest figures from Public Health France.
