The Arlequin cinema has made the daring bet to broadcast Paul Anderson's new film, "Licorice Pizza" in film rather than digital.

A decision assumed by the establishment, which seems to seduce the spectators since the film has sold out since its release on January 12, according to the director of programming, Éric Jolivalt. 

Since last Wednesday, the Arlequin cinema in Paris has made a rather special choice.

She decided to screen Paul Anderson's film, "Licorice Pizza", a film that tells a love story between two teenagers, in film rather than digital.

A program that refers to vinyl records, emblem of the Seventies.

But to achieve this result, the path was long and strewn with adventures: the reel weighed several kilos and it had to be brought from the United States.

Arrived in France, she found herself stuck at customs.

And finally, it was above all necessary to find projectionists accustomed to mounting these installations from another time.

A film that captivated viewers

A daring choice which welcomes Éric Jolivalt, the programming director of Dulac Cinéma, of which the Harlequin is a part.

"Like vinyl, it's not exactly the same sound as an MP3 sound and well the film, it's not exactly the same image, the same sensation as digital images", he specifies straight away. first, before explaining that the bet had been welcomed by the spectators: "Already, what we have seen is that people were crossing Paris, even the suburbs to see the film. And we even have people who came back to see it. The advantage is that we had full rooms and it's heart-warming, especially in this period".

It is in any case the bet of Quentin Tarantino, who opened a cinema dedicated to film in Los Angeles.
