  In November 2021, 4 members of the Kunming Natural Resources Comprehensive Survey Center (hereinafter referred to as "Kunming Center") of the China Geological Survey, including Liu Yu, were unfortunately killed in the line of duty while conducting forest resource surveys in Ailao Mountain, Yunnan, causing a nationwide pay attention to.

  Data shows: Liu Yu, male, born in October 1992, from Kunming, Yunnan, college degree.

In August 2013, he enlisted in the army through direct recruitment of non-commissioned officers.

At the end of 2018, after the unit was restructured, he was an employee of the Hydrogeology and Water Resources Survey Office of the Kunming Center.

He was only 29 years old when he died in the line of duty in Ailao Mountain.

  On that day, Liu Yu's family, relatives and friends, colleagues and people from all walks of life braved the drizzle to bid farewell to the geological surveyor who was loyal to his duties and took risks.

Under the elegiac couplet of "willing to dedicate the family and country, the sun and the moon, mourning comrades-in-arms for being loyal to their duties; going to danger, heroes and courage, and saying goodbye to colleagues forest investigation", most of them were silent tears.

Liu Yu's wife shouted "We have only been married for ten months", which made people feel particularly heartbroken.

  The leader of Liu Yu's unit said in his eulogy, "Liu Yu's hero's life is a life of selfless dedication to the party, the country and the people, and a life of unremitting struggle for the cause of geological surveys. He used his youth and blood to show the glory of a converted soldier. With his luster, he interprets the dedication and responsibility of the geological youth in the new era with his life. Although his life is short, the light that blooms is extremely bright."

  At the memorial service, the Kunming Center also read out the decision to commend Liu Yu for his merits and posthumously recognize him as a member of the Communist Party of China.

  In the afternoon, Liu Yu's hearse returned to the place where he lived and worked, and finally arrived at the Jinbao Mountain Army Soul Garden.

Along the way, citizens sent their farewells spontaneously, or held yellow chrysanthemums or held banners: "Salute the geological hero Liu Yu and go all the way."
