Due to the health crisis and the Omicron variant, the 49th Angoulême International Comics Festival had made the (difficult) choice to postpone its holding, initially scheduled for January 27 to 30, 2022. However, the new dates are from already known, and the festival will therefore be held from March 17 to 20, with all its components: its artistic program, its Official Competition, the designation of the Grand Prix, and the presence of authors and publishers. “The ambition remains completely intact to offer all comic book lovers an edition comparable, by its richness and the diversity of its cultural offer, to those which preceded the pandemic”, can we read in the press release from hurry.

The choice of these dates was made taking into account various factors, such as the evolution of the health situation, with a peak in January then an announced decrease, as well as the calendar of cultural events and the need to promote the works in a temporality linked to their presence in bookstores.
