With the rapid spread of the new coronavirus, in Okinawa prefecture, medical staff are infected and there is a shortage of manpower.

A doctor dealing with corona patients said, "We are no longer able to make up for the shortage of personnel," and complained about the current state of the medical field.

In Okinawa Prefecture, there are a series of medical workers who cannot work due to infection with the new corona or becoming close contacts, and some medical institutions are also affecting medical care.

At the Prefectural Chubu Hospital in Uruma City, outpatient clinics are restricted due to labor shortages, and nurses are dispatched from the Self-Defense Forces.

On the night of the 14th, Dr. Soichi Shiiki of the Department of Infectious Diseases revealed that out of the 1,200 staff members, about 80 people, including nurses and clerical staff, excluding doctors, were unable to attend work.

Most of them are infected at home, and the number is increasing on a scale of 10 or more every day.

Dr. Shiiki said, "Twice as many staff members as at the peak of the fifth wave last summer are absent, and we are no longer able to make up for the shortage of personnel."

To prevent this situation from getting worse, the hospital is strengthening its system to cover each other's work by managing work, so that staff with any symptoms can take a rest.

Dr. Shiiki said, "It is very important to build an atmosphere that makes you want to take a rest and how to respond to it," and pointed out that it is necessary to devise a way of working to prevent the spread of infection. ..
