“Lyon wants to bring the memory of Captain Frank Labois to life and forever link the name of this admirable man and exemplary civil servant to our city.
This is how the mayor of Lyon Grégory Doucet paid tribute this Thursday to the police officer who died in the performance of his duties on January 13, 2020.
Two days earlier, he had been deliberately run over by a van he was trying to intercept, in Bron (Rhône).
A national tribute had in the process been paid to him in a court of the prefecture of the Rhône, in the presence of Christophe Castaner, then Minister of the Interior, and his Secretary of State Laurent Nuñez.
Frank Labois was posthumously awarded the insignia of knight of the Legion of Honor and the rank of captain.
A street in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon, near the premises of the departmental security, officially bears his name since Thursday.
Two years to the day after the death of the police officer, Grégory Doucet unveiled the plaque of the alley of Captain Frank Labois, alongside Pascal Mailhos, prefect of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region.
