The Israeli government is trying to ease tensions in the Negev.

It is in this desert that lives an Arab Bedouin minority of Israeli nationality.

Some members of this community are settled in villages not recognized by the Jewish state.

This week, the JNF, the Jewish National Fund, an agency of the World Zionist Organization, began afforestation of land whose ownership is claimed by the Bedouins.

The Bedouins denounce an attempted expropriation.

The situation on the spot turned to confrontation with the police.
