China News Agency, Hong Kong, January 12 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong police arrested Zou Jiacheng, who was previously indicted for "conspiracy to subvert state power" on the afternoon of the 12th.

Zou Jiacheng is suspected of having remarks and behaviors endangering national security during his bail period, violating the court's bail conditions.

According to the SAR Government Police Department, the National Security Office of the Police Department arrested Zou Jiacheng when he returned to the police station to report on the 12th, and will detain him overnight for investigation. The case will appear at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court on the afternoon of the 13th.

Zou Jiacheng was suspected of participating in the so-called "primary election" of the Legislative Council illegally held in 2020. He was charged with "conspiracy to subvert state power" in February of the following year. He was remanded for about four months, and was later granted bail by the High Court.

It is reported that the police investigation found that during the bail period, Zou Jiacheng publicly published on his personal social media many times and made remarks and behaviors that were regarded as endangering national security for reasonable reasons, including trying to incite hatred of the public against the government and distorting the remarks of the Secretary of Security. Calling on the public not to go out on the Legislative Council polling day, it is suspected of encouraging others not to vote.
