Annually tilted by more than 7 cm... a skyscraper in San Francisco raises concern "video"

Media reports raise concern about the famous "Millennium Tower", a skyscraper in San Francisco, USA, that continues to sink.

And the agency “Sputnik” quoted the British newspaper, “The Guardian”, that the skyscraper tilted on one side at a rate of 3 inches, which is equivalent to 7.5 centimeters annually.

Many celebrities in the field of sports and art have raced to spend millions in this skyscraper to get apartments in it, before realizing that the skyscraper is sinking.

The skyscraper was opened in 2009, and more than 400 apartments were sold at record speed, with a total of $750 million in price for these apartments.

By 2016, the building had sunk 40cm into the soft soil and landfill located in the San Francisco Financial District.

Apartment owners were quick to file lawsuits, with some residents arguing that condominiums that were once valued at more than $5 million are now worth nothing.

In 2020, a secret settlement included a plan to repair the building, and another to compensate the affected apartment owners for their financial losses, but the building's sinking and tilt continued during the repair process.

It is noteworthy that work to strengthen the building's foundations stopped last summer, after engineers discovered that the building had sunk another inch in the months following the start of an attempt to repair the building.
