In the presence of a large crowd of writers, writers and culture lovers, the Emirati writer, Abdullah Saqr Ahmed, sheds light on some aspects of his creative experience with fiction and poetic writing, in the dialogue session hosted by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority "Dubai Culture", in cooperation with the "Emirates Writers and Writers Union". In the Safa Library of Art and Design, in celebration of the Emirati writer, during which he affirmed that the sea is the best teacher and friend.

The session was the first of a long-term cooperation between Dubai Public Libraries and the Emirates Writers Union, which will witness an enrichment of the cultural and knowledge scene in the emirate on the flags of Emirati literature, through a series of discussion sessions and poetry evenings that will be held every two weeks, until the end of March of this year.

In the evening, which was moderated by the Emirati narrator Mohsen Suleiman, Saqr talked about his story collection (The Wood) and the circumstances of writing it, explaining that he was inspired by his quiet daily life, transforming it using his imagination into stories full of interesting events, which are not without surprise and the depth of the idea.

On the influence of the sea in shaping his creativity, Saqr pointed out that the influence of the sea and its horrors played a major role in crystallizing the characters of his stories, poems and daily life. “The sea, in its vastness and its cruelty, was the best teacher and friend.”

In answer to a question about his old project in film production, Saqr said that it was an old idea, which he started in the nineties of the last century, and equipped with advanced equipment, noting that he had completed a "promo" for a television program.

The session was interrupted by interventions from the audience, in one of which Professor Ibrahim Mubarak hinted that Saqr’s collection of stories “The Wood” provoked sharp criticism at the time of its publication, due to its boldness in presenting at that time period, stressing that this is a clear evidence of the quality of the writer’s work, and its impact. in public opinion.

Mohsen Suleiman also emphasized that the writer did not stay away from the scene as it was reported, but was present over the past years, through his group that accompanied all critical schools from the seventies of the last century until the present day, in addition to his constant presence in press interviews.

It is reported that the writer Abdullah Saqr has released his new book "Dark Pieces of the Night" after a 41-year absence from publication, during which he devoted most of his time to sports work, even coaching the UAE national team for a while.
