In Okinawa Prefecture, the number of medical workers who cannot work due to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus infection is increasing, so on the morning of the 11th, we requested the Self-Defense Forces to dispatch a disaster for medical support.


In response to this, the Ground Self-Defense Force decided to dispatch 10 people including nurses to two hospitals in the prefecture for one week from the 11th.

In Okinawa Prefecture, the number of newly infected people of the new corona in the week up to the 10th is 7314, which is more than 19 times that of the previous week, and the rapid spread of infection has not stopped.



As of the 10th, there are 483 medical workers who cannot work due to infection with corona or becoming close contacts due to this effect, and there are a number of medical institutions that limit medical care.



For this reason, Okinawa Prefecture requested the Self-Defense Forces on the morning of the 11th to dispatch a disaster for medical support.



In response to this, the 15th Brigade of the Ground Self-Defense Force in Naha City dispatched 10 nurses and others to two hospitals, the Prefectural Northern Hospital and Chubu Hospital, for a week from 11th to 17th January. It means to provide health management and medical support.

At a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Defense Kishi received a disaster dispatch request for medical support from the Governor of Okinawa, and sent a total of 10 nurses and associate nurses to two hospitals in Okinawa Prefecture. We dispatched and announced that we will carry out medical support activities from the 12th.



On that basis, Minister Kishi said, "We will continue to work closely with local governments and related ministries and agencies to prevent the spread of infection."
