Regarding the child "Young Carer" who is in charge of family care, NPOs in Tokyo have started efforts such as consulting with experts online and providing opportunities for the parties to talk with each other.

Regarding young carers, the problem is that children often cannot consult with their surroundings and often have troubles on their own.

Under these circumstances, Katariba, an NPO in Suginami-ku, Tokyo, which provides learning support for children, has decided to provide new online support from next year in order to reduce the burden and anxiety of young carers.

Specifically, children are connected weekly and parents are connected with NPO staff online about once a month, and depending on the situation, they consult with specialists such as mental health workers, and young carers talk with each other. It means that there will be an opportunity to do so.

The target is households that have children in the third grade of elementary school to the third grade of high school who care for the family living together and are receiving school support, recruiting 30 households, and the participation fee is free.

Mr. Kazuki Wada of NPO "Katariba" said, "I would like to support the family as well while staying close to them so that we can solve the problems together."

Applications are accepted from the NPO Katariba website until the end of this month.
