A traditional event was held in Matsue City, carrying a large rice cake and dedicating it to a temple on the top of the mountain to pray for a year without illness and a good harvest.

It is said that this traditional event called "Omochi-san" has been going on for more than 600 years at Hoshigamiji Temple in Matsue City, which is located on the top of a mountain at an altitude of 450 meters, and about 30 people gathered.

Participants carried a large rice cake with a diameter of about 70 cm and a weight of about 10 kg to Hoshigamiji Temple while singing a congratulatory song while taking measures to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

When I arrived in front of the temple for about an hour and a half, I ran up the stairs in front of the main hall, hitting rice cakes with a powerful shout.

At the end, the participants dedicated rice cakes and prayed for a year without illness and a good harvest.

A 73-year-old man who participated said, "I hope that the new corona will settle down quickly and return to normal life. I want to continue to keep this tradition."
