An Afghan baby has returned to his family's embrace after five months spent in the home of a taxi driver who was found alone at Kabul airport amid the chaos of evacuations from Afghanistan following the Taliban's takeover.

Amidst the crowds of Kabul Airport, Mirza Ali Ahmadi handed his son Sohail to a foreign soldier, hoping to meet him within minutes.

However, taxi driver Hamid Safi (29 years) later found the child crying alone on the airport grounds on the same day.

Safi says, "I took him to a few women to breastfeed him, but they refused... I searched for his family a lot, then called my wife and she told me to bring him home."

In contrast, Ahmadi, who worked at the US Embassy in Kabul, spent three days searching for his son at the airport, but finally decided to leave with his wife and children on an evacuation flight to the United States.

Safi and his wife confirm that they searched for a long time for the child's family, and when they lost hope, they named him Muhammad and decided to take care of him.

And just a few days ago, with the help of police and social media, the child was handed over to his grandfather.
