Neither the attackers nor their motivations are yet known.

An employee of the vaccination center of Munster, in the Haut-Rhin, was "violently assaulted" Friday by three people, announce the prefecture of Haut-Rhin and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of the Grand Est.

The prosecutor of the Republic of Colmar, Catherine Sorita-Minard, told AFP that on Saturday she opened a flagrant investigation for "violence in meetings with weapons and with premeditation".

The investigation was entrusted to the research section of the Colmar gendarmerie.

"Nothing can justify such violence"

The facts occurred when the vaccination center closed around 8 p.m. Friday, added the magistrate, according to which the victim was not in serious condition.

The prefect of Haut-Rhin and the director general of ARS Grand Est denounced "an unacceptable act".

"Nothing can justify such violence", they stressed in a joint statement.

A psychological unit will be set up "if necessary", they further indicated.

According to them, the vaccination centers "are the subject of permanent attention" by the police.

“This mobilization will continue,” they warned.
