At 01:45 on January 08, an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 occurred in Menyuan County, Beizhou, Qinghai Province (37.77 degrees north latitude, 101.26 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
After the earthquake, the Haibei Detachment of the Qinghai Corps of the Armed Police immediately activated the earthquake disaster emergency rescue plan, dispatched 49 troops, 11 of whom have gone to the epicenter, and the rest are maintaining social order in the county town. More than 200 people are on standby to be ready for reinforcements at any time. There were no casualties or house collapses.
