Xu Feng is a professor at the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is 57 years old this year.
In November 2020, Xu Feng felt particularly uncomfortable and had severe asthma.
Later, he was diagnosed with uremia and started hemodialysis three times a week.
On December 16, 2021, Xu Feng successfully received a kidney transplant at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University.
After the operation, Xu Feng, who was still in recovery, was always concerned about the students' studies.
Xu Feng said that his course was arranged in the second half of the semester, and he adjusted 3 times because of the operation.
Xu Feng said: "As the end of the term is approaching, the children can no longer be delayed, and my course is a professional degree course, let alone a little sloppy."
Ten days after the operation, Xu Feng decided to teach the students remotely on the hospital bed.
It is reported that Xu Feng's students include both China Southern Airlines students and overseas students. These international students failed to return to campus due to the epidemic, and they all studied online.
There are more than 130 students in this course taught by Feng Xu, including both master and doctoral students.
According to the school's schedule, Xu Feng prepared the courseware early, sat on the hospital bed, and explained carefully to the students. Once the class started, Xu Feng was particularly engaged, and everything around him seemed to have nothing to do with him.
"As long as he lectures, he is passionate. Sometimes, we have to draw him blood and remind him to take medicine, which is a bit embarrassing." said Cao Hongdi, deputy chief physician of the Nephrology Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University.
