[Explanation] The epidemic situation in Hong Kong has become increasingly severe in the past few days, and the SAR government urgently announced the tightening of epidemic prevention measures.

As the Lunar New Year is approaching, many Hong Kong citizens are preparing to "go north" to reunite with their families.

Affected by the epidemic, Hong Kong currently has only two land ports, namely Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, to maintain transit services.

[Commentary] On January 6, a reporter from China News Service visited Shenzhen Bay Port.

The reporter saw at the entry-exit port that many Hong Kong citizens lined up to pass through customs with luggage in order to complete the 21-day quarantine before New Year’s Eve.

It is reported that relevant cross-border personnel can reserve the number of quarantine rooms in the next 7 days in advance through the "Healthy Station Room Online Reservation System" at Shenzhen Bay Port.

The reporter learned from the official website of the Port Office of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government that from January 5th to 8th, there were 4,359 reserved rooms and 3,270 reserved rooms.

Visitors at the scene told reporters that as the New Year’s Day approaches, the number of people going northward in Hong Kong has increased, and reservations for segregated hotels in Shenzhen are tight.

(Hotel) It was booked two weeks ago, and it should be impossible (reserved) now.

At least (quarantine) 14+7 (days), and then come back in two weeks, almost a month and a half.

[Concurrent] Hong Kong citizen Ms. Zhang

It's not easy to grab (reservation quota), so I kept pressing and pressing until a little more. Suddenly, a lot of numbers were released, but they were gone in less than a few seconds.

(Can go back to the mainland) Very happy, I was so happy yesterday that I couldn't sleep.

[Explanation] Many citizens said frankly that they had not been able to return to the mainland for a long time due to the epidemic. This time they were very happy to be able to make an appointment to the quarantine hotel. Although more than 20 days of quarantine were needed, they thought of being able to stay with their long-lost family and friends. Reunion during the Spring Festival is still very satisfying.

[Concurrent] Mr. Lai, a Hong Kong citizen

It’s actually very difficult to make a reservation. It took a few days to get it, and I felt quite complicated, because it’s actually quite boring to be in a hotel.

My grandma wants to visit her in the mainland. I haven't seen her for a year, and there are many friends from the mainland.

Time is tight. I will be back for work almost February 6, so we have a 30-day break, and 21 days will be spent in isolation.

Then during the New Year, I have to go to visit the New Year, so I don't have much time for free activities.

[Concurrent] Hong Kong citizen Ms. Huang

I'm very excited. I haven't gone back for half a year, but I just went back to celebrate the New Year.

There are two ways to go back to Hong Kong now. One is to grab the hotel’s station from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, and the second is to grab the "Gimba" ticket from Hong Kong to Zhuhai.

If you grab hotel tickets, there used to be 2,000 places per day, but now it’s 700 places per day, so you have to grab them "quickly and hard."

I robbed the station for many days, and then I couldn’t get it. Then I asked many friends, including my friends in Hong Kong to help me rob it, and finally got it.

[Explanation] According to the statistics of inbound and outbound passenger flow from the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, in the past week, the number of people leaving Hong Kong from Hong Kong to the Mainland through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Shenzhen Bay Port has remained at about 900 to 1500.
