It is chilling to know that 175 minors under the guardianship of the Generalitat Valenciana suffered sexual abuse between June 2020 and the same month of 2021, 127 of them when they were in residential care.

This is a very serious matter that reveals the cracks in the protection system for the most vulnerable of the Ximo Puig government.

The regional president called the acts "despicable" yesterday.

But there is plenty of gesticulation and what is urgently needed are

a thorough investigation and with all the necessary means, many explanations by the Administration and the assumption of the pertinent political responsibilities.

All eyes are on the Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies led by the first vice president of the Valencian Executive, Mónica Oltra, who was already highly questioned by the scandal that ended with the conviction of her ex-husband for abuse.

It seems more and more evident that the leader of Compromís has looked the other way for too long when the circumstances that forced her to was to be extremely zealous and to review all the protection protocols for minors, in addition to intensifying the measures of prevention and detection of these cases.

The Valencian Government cannot shake off its responsibility in the face of such shocking events.
