"Exposure 2022"... brings together the world's leading photographers on one platform

The sixth edition of the International Photography Festival (Xposure), the global event that celebrates the art and creativity of photography in Sharjah, will host a selection of the world's leading photographers to showcase their unique photographic works and innovative methods of visual storytelling and share their experiences and expertise with us.



The festival, which is organized by the Sharjah Government Media Office, and which is scheduled to be held over seven days this year, from 9 to 15 February at the Expo Center Sharjah, will witness individual and group art exhibitions by photographers from around the world and local and international photography institutions. It also presents a program An integrated program of seminars, inspirational speeches, training and educational workshops designed to suit skills at all levels, in addition to artistic evaluation sessions, in an integrated program presented by 57 photographers.

Among the photographers participating in the festival is Steve McCurry, a member of the Magnum platform for photographers, who specializes in depicting conflicts, traditions and ancient cultures. Spontaneity coupled with paintings of everyday life.

Visitors can see the work of the award-winning Macedonian photographer Beljana Gorokovsky, whose photographs have sparked a debate about cultural difference and respect for tradition;

And Russian photographer Daniel Cordan, who is known for his passion for photographing landscapes and travels, as well as watching stunning documentaries by British photojournalist George Giorgio.

Among the photographers participating are documentary photographer Goncalo Fonseca from Portugal, and Jordan Hammond, whose contemporary style of travel photography combines diverse cultures, colours, light and landscapes;

Black and white photographers, Vinette Fora, and Alan Schaller, who specialize in black and white photography, are exhibiting their work that reflects their passion for street art.

Tariq Zaidi presents a range of his works in which he documents the issue of inequality and other social issues in the world, while photojournalist Vidya Chadramohan presents influential visual stories about Emirati women, their empowerment and their integration into cultural, economic and social life.

A group of senior photographers specialized in landscape and wildlife photography will participate in the festival, most notably the American photographer Jules Sartore, founder of the "Photo Arch" project. the scientist;

While Mikkel Roecki presents a set of images that document the changing landscape of the North and South Poles in light of the climate changes that the planet is witnessing.

The festival will host an exhibition of the work of multi-award winning environmental photographer Aaron Jekoski, who specializes in the visual documentation of human-animal conflict, as well as an exhibition by Belgian photographer Alain Schroeder, whose work revolves around photographing endangered species, and Yuri Pelegorci, whose photographs focus on highlighting the beauty of the enchanting landscapes in North Pole.

Macro photographer Levon Pace, Danish photographer and researcher Mogens Troll, known for her passion for wildlife photography and winner of the 2020 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition;

and Jasper Doucet, who works for the National Geographic Channel, and his work focuses on exploring the relationship between man and nature.

In the field of underwater photography, six professional photographers are participating to reflect their own vision on marine conservation issues: Daryl Owen, Brian Skerry, David Dobelle, Jennifer Hayes, Laure Ballista and Jeffrey Gariuk.

This year, many award-winning photographers will participate in the festival to display a range of their works that highlight the aesthetics of buildings and urban architecture and highlight the balance between design and engineering standards, in the category of "Architecture" photography.

Andrew Brocus, a specialist in long-exposure and fine art photography, displays a range of his creations that include architectural, landscape and urban elements, while Sajeen Sassidaran demonstrates his knowledge and skills in combining composition, light and natural elements through black and white photographs;

Stephen Brock, an activist in historical preservation, offers his own vision of the principles of installation and the concept of integrity in art.

Majid Al Bastaki, an architectural photographer born and raised in Sharjah, participates through a series of images that embody the cultural, artistic and aesthetic elements of the Emirate of Sharjah, while the work of photographer Evan Ban highlights shared urban spaces including tall buildings and hand-built homes.

The festival hosts a group of photojournalists active in documenting human experiences, whose works embody their unique personal vision and skills, including American photographer James Nactwe, who has documented wars and the most important social issues, and Muhammed Muhaisen, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, whose work revolves around the refugee crisis. In the world, Spanish photojournalist Omar Havana, Czech photographer and filmmaker Jana Anderte, whose photographs focus on conflict areas and humanitarian issues; And photographer Kieran Ridley is interested in issues of immigration, human rights and political representation.

Sergey Ponomarev also presents a range of his works dealing with the European refugee crisis as well as wars and conflicts in the Middle East, alongside artist and filmmaker Debbie Cornwall, documentary photographer based in Lebanon Diego Ibarra Sanchez, and photographer Ibrahim Iqbal, based in Bangladesh and winner of more than 300 national and international awards. ; and photographer Franck Fournier who specializes in humanitarian issues and has produced exceptional work on the civil war in Lebanon.

Xposure also hosts a group of innovators in the world of travel photography, which includes the arts of landscape photography, portraits, cultural landmarks, food and cities from all over the world, including: Chris Koe, Andrew Brocus, Ilia Locardi, David Newton, and Spanish artist Garcia de Marina, who specializes in photography.
