The Fatwa in Egypt resolves its position on the use of contraceptives

The Health and Population Committee of the Senate of Egypt discussed a study submitted by Representative Sohair Abdel Salam on the population increase in Egypt.

Dr. Muhammad Jazar, head of the Senate’s Health and Population Committee, said that there should be one authority entrusted with the population problem, as the issue has been lost between the authorities and the competent authority must be unified, let it be the National Population Center, and its decisions are effective.

The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Shawki Allam, stressed that the use of medical methods of contraception to confront the population increase is permissible and does not cause any harm to the family or the woman.

Shawky Allam added, during the Senate Health Committee meeting to discuss the population issue, that there is no problem in taking reasons in order to maintain development and achieve positive goals for the family and the state.
