Today (January 3) is the last day of the New Year's Day holiday. The reporter learned from the Ministry of Transport that some sections of roads affected by the weather have resumed traffic. It is expected that the national highways will usher in the return peak this afternoon.

  In terms of overall transportation, the traffic volume of road, railway, and civil aviation passengers during the New Year's Day holiday this year was generally stable.

  During the three days of the New Year’s Day holiday this year, the number of passengers sent by railways across the country decreased year-on-year. Yesterday, 5.683 million passengers were sent, a year-on-year decrease of 15.2%.

Today, it is expected to send 7.3 million passengers, a decrease of 19.2% year-on-year.

  According to the arrangement of railway train tickets being sold 15 days in advance, today, the train tickets for the Spring Festival Transport in 2022 will be on sale.

China Railway Group estimates that during the Spring Festival this year, the national railways are expected to send 280 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 28.5%.

  In terms of roads, during the New Year’s Day holiday, the national road network was generally stable and orderly. Expressways, general national and provincial trunk roads and roads surrounding major and medium-sized cities were in good traffic conditions. The national expressway traffic dropped slightly year-on-year.

  In terms of civil aviation, from January 1st to 3rd, civil aviation is expected to transport 2.46 million passengers, a decrease of 26.8% year-on-year in 2021; today and tomorrow are the peak return journeys, with an estimated daily average of 950,000 passengers.

  Affected by the recent epidemic in individual regions in China, during the holiday period, most tourist cities' ticket bookings and passenger load factors for inbound and outbound passengers were slightly lower than the levels of the same period last year and the year before.
