The death of the most famous drug dealer in Spain

The most famous and oldest drug baron in Spain has died at the age of 89, Spanish national newspapers reported.

The newspapers "El Pais" and "El Mundo", quoting family and official sources, reported that Manuel Charlene died in his hometown of Vilanova de Arosa in Galicia, northwest Spain, of a heart attack after visiting a bar.

Charlene has been the leader of the "Los Charlene" gang for decades, and according to the Spanish authorities, the gang runs one of the largest drug trafficking networks in Europe, supplying many countries on the continent with drugs that are smuggled from South America.

Charlene Grommel has spent nearly 20 years of his life behind bars.

He was convicted of drug trafficking, money laundering and other crimes, and was a suspect in a number of murders;

However, it was never possible to prove his guilt.

Charlene had completed his last custodial sentence in 2010, and many accused of being accomplices in the drug trade, including four sons and two granddaughters, are currently undergoing further investigations.
