China News Service, Hong Kong, January 1. The term of the seventh legislative council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will begin on January 1, 2022, with a term of four years.

  Voting for the seventh Legislative Council election ends on December 19, 2021. It is the first Legislative Council election after the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's electoral system has been improved.

In the election, 153 candidates participated in the election, and 90 members of the Legislative Council were finally elected, including 40 members elected by the Election Committee, 30 members elected by functional groups, and 20 members directly elected by districts.

  On January 3, the swearing-in ceremony of the members of the 7th Legislative Council will be held in the Chamber of the Legislative Council Complex. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam will administer the oath.

On January 12, the Seventh Legislative Council held its first meeting.
