[Explanation] In order to better understand the current life and needs of Taiwanese students and Taiwanese youths, on December 31, two visits and condolences were held in Beijing.

At the event site, many students in Beijing and Taiwan shared their feelings about studying in the mainland through a forum.

[Concurrent] An Weilun, an undergraduate from Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, 2021

I have been in Beijing for about half a year.

(Here) is very friendly, and every aspect of the school teachers and classmates makes us feel that we are family on both sides of the strait.

I also made a lot of different friends here, and also got many opportunities.

[Concurrent] Wang Chengrui, Master of Mental Health, Peking University, 2020

I am a graduate student of the Sixth Hospital of Beijing Medical University. We only have an eating disorder (mainly), and we have a ward of our own.

This is relatively rare regardless of whether it is in Taiwan or other places.

There is a strong interest in scientific research in the academic atmosphere here.

It is also very helpful to me personally.

[Explanation] As for Taiwanese youths working in Beijing to start a business, they have a more real sense of the changes in their lives.

[Concurrent] Xu Xiaojun, Director of Wealth Planning, China Minsheng Bank Headquarters

2021 is a year full of gratitude for me and for my family.

My whole family, including me and my husband, have already finished the 3 shots of the vaccine. When our two children entered elementary school in Beijing, everything went smoothly.

[Concurrent] Huang Boxiang, a staff member of China Everbright Group

As a Taiwan compatriot working in Beijing and working on the mainland, I can truly feel the same treatment.

My colleagues in mainland China are actually the same. Through the same assessment, I can achieve some related achievements that I want.

It also makes me very confident that I can take root in this place in Beijing in the mainland.

Taiwan is my hometown when I was born and raised, but I think the mainland is my home for employment and dreams.

[Commentary] Everyone said that although the new crown pneumonia epidemic has affected the cross-strait personnel exchanges, the vast mainland market is attracting more and more Taiwanese youths.

I hope that there will be more platforms for young people developing in the mainland to share their experiences, and more Taiwanese young people who agree with the peaceful development of the two sides of the strait can seize the opportunities for development in the mainland.

[Concurrent] Wang Chengrui, Master of Mental Health, Peking University, 2020

Because I have been here, I know that the land here has humanities, and it will be a little different from what I had understood in Taiwan in the past.

I will share my experience here with everyone. I think this will definitely help our Taiwanese friends (to the mainland) to understand.

[Concurrent] Huang Boxiang, a staff member of China Everbright Group

I think it is better to build a platform for integration to help Taiwanese youth build a platform for information exchange, talent exchange, and some projects.

I also hope that there will be more young people from Taiwan who want to take root in the mainland and contribute to the integration of the two sides of the strait, like me, to stand up and convey positive energy.

[Concurrent] Xu Xiaojun, Director of Wealth Planning, China Minsheng Bank Headquarters

Of course, I also hope that next year (2022) the epidemic will slow down a bit, and then the two sides of the strait will be able to resume a better opportunity for exchanges as soon as possible.

Seeing more integration between the two sides of the strait, I think it is the biggest wish of every one of us in Beijing and Taiwan compatriots.

[Commentary] During the exchange, Long Mingbiao, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that he would try his best to help Taiwan compatriots solve the difficulties encountered in life on the mainland.

He also hopes that Taiwan compatriots on the mainland can actively integrate into the local society and jointly promote cross-strait exchanges.

[Concurrent] Long Mingbiao, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council

Whether Taiwan compatriots come to the mainland to study, work, live, or start a business, I think they must have a master attitude.

Don't divide each other.

It must become a positive energy for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and work together for the peaceful reunification of the country and national rejuvenation.
