[Explanation] On December 30th, "Time and Space Canglang—Annual Special Exhibition of New Wave of Ingenuity of Baoku" was officially launched in Shanghai Baoku Cultural Center.

This exhibition presents the contemporary expression of traditional Chinese craftsmanship with representative works of eight artists.

Chen Mingwei, who integrates bone wood inlays into urban aesthetics, Ge Jun who decorates pots with “color”, and Weng Jijun who connect different dimensions with lacquer art... These masters of art are the most faithful inheritors of traditional techniques, and at the same time, they are both bold and innovative. Become representatives of their respective fields.

Chen Mingwei is the representative inheritor of "Ningbo Bone Wood Inlay", and has been committed to the protection, inheritance and innovative development of the traditional craft of "Bone Wood Inlay" for many years.

He told reporters that the boxes and bags he brought this time kept the traditional craftsmanship and also fit the aesthetics of modern people.

[Concurrent] Chen Mingwei, the inheritor of "Ningbo bone wood inlay"

We have developed epoch-making works that keep pace with the times in the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.

For example, we see the ornamentation on the back of the bag, which means longevity. The writing of the word for life is derived from seal script. This is the lotus pattern, and this grid is called Wanshige, which means that everything goes well.

Recently, I was studying this bag again. We will use wood and use the "bone wood inlay" process, and then combine it with leather, which may achieve greater market development.

Therefore, we have made it a development concept for luxury positioning in the inlay process.

[Explanation] Chinese ceramic art master Ge Jun has devoted himself to the research, development, and design of purple sand for more than 20 years, and created the original "color decoration method", breaking the tradition of "a thousand faces and one color" of purple sand pots, making the art of purple sand a reality. The transformation from tradition to modernity.

In the past, our purple sand was also called "five-color soil", and it all used the original colors of black, red, purple, yellow, and green.

(Now) Combine it through my adjustment of temperature, then I figured out what I was talking about called "color decoration".

Well, my works are very different from the traditional ones. The traditional ones look relatively single. I should be said to be colorful. I incorporate very rich colors into one work.

[Commentary] Ye Baifeng, curator of Shanghai Baoku Ingenuity Museum, said that the new wave of Chinese craftsmanship is an attitude and a direction.

This exhibition allows the public to enter the craft and experience art from many aspects such as craft creation methods, aesthetic system, artistic conception, and application scenarios.

[Concurrent] Ye Baifeng, Curator of Shanghai Treasure Ingenuity Museum

We also hope that a form of their craftsmanship and a process of presentation will be understood and seen by everyone. This is also a new attempt in the form of our future exhibition.

We see that this kind of craft language can recreate a new kind of characteristic of the times. We see that it is combined with art and life. This is what we want to tell everyone.

[Commentary] It is reported that this exhibition will continue until February 16, 2022.
