• Curfews, guest gauges, closed restaurants ... In 2020, many restrictions had been put in place for the New Year.

  • This year, for New Year's Eve, the restrictions will be less severe.

But the government still imposed some rules.

  • To help you out,

    20 Minutes gives

you a handy little guide on what you can and don’t do for New Years Eve.

Remember, that was exactly a year ago.

Curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., restaurants closed, gauges for private parties ... In 2020, the New Year's edition had a very bitter taste.

This year, if the restrictions are less severe, it is not yet completely out of whack.

Faced with the surge in coronavirus cases, especially due to the spread of the Omicron variant, on Friday everything will not be allowed (you have it?).

What is forbidden and allowed for New Year's Eve?

Recommended and not recommended?

20 Minutes

(still in partnership with the Scientific Council, but also Jean Castex, Olivier Véran and Public Health France) takes stock.

What is prohibited

For those who wanted to celebrate the transition to the year 2022 in the street, as traditionally on the Champs-Elysées for example, this will unfortunately be impossible. Gatherings on public roads, such as alcohol consumption, will be prohibited on New Year's Eve.

In a note distributed to the prefects, the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, called on the prefects to take “any useful measure to dissuade gatherings” and to “disperse them during their training”, to “ensure a marked presence” the police "in places usually subject to gatherings", to "impose by decree the wearing of masks in town centers", or even "to limit public transport to avoid the mixing of populations, in particular on December 31 ". The intelligence services will take part in "the detection, especially on social networks" of "rave-type" evenings. The Prime Minister, Jean Castex, also invited, Monday during his press conference, "the municipalities to give up the fireworks".

If you had planned to go dancing in a nightclub, you will have to find another solution.

The discos, closed since mid-December, will not reopen until the end of January (we can see the tear on your cheek).

Finally, if you plan to celebrate the New Year at the restaurant or at the bar, you can eat while standing - drinking while standing will be prohibited from January 3 - but you will not be able to dance in these establishments, for the sake of fairness with nightclubs.

What is allowed

Unlike last year, there was no curfew.

And that, we are not going to lie to each other, it's still good news.

You will therefore be able to circulate freely all night long, without time restrictions or kilometers (don't forget to designate your Sam, eh).

In addition, no gauge has been imposed for private parties, even if the government calls for limiting large gatherings.

What is advised

As we explained to you last week in our (superb) article to spend Christmas in all serenity, certain reflexes will have to be kept in the New Year. Starting with the wearing of the mask.

If we recognize that there is more sales than dancing to

Les Démons de minuit

with his mask (it is valid for any music besides), it will be necessary to try to wear it as much as possible without meals, had recommended the members of the Scientific Council in their opinion of December 8. They recommend in particular the FFP2 mask for "the most fragile or unvaccinated people" and this "as soon as possible, with all the complexity nevertheless associated with this use". “The mask is what works best. From the moment you remove it, you take a risk, ”explained Michaël Rochoy, general practitioner, epidemiology researcher and member of the collective Du Côté de la science, last week at

.

Another essential point: ventilation (valid for the virus and for the smell of perspiration).

While New Year's Eve is usually more festive than Christmas, the Scientific Council advises to "keep a window or door open for at least 10 minutes per hour or permanently if possible".

"The aeration has one objective: to eliminate the quantity of potentially contaminated aerosol in the air", explained Pascal Crépey, epidemiologist at the School of Advanced Studies in Public Health.

Our file on the New Year

Finally, as at Christmas, it is recommended for the New Year to perform a self-test before the party.

Especially since they are now available in pharmacies but also in hypermarkets until January 31 (between 2 and 5 euros tight, we see you).

What is not recommended

We can imagine that the twelve strokes of midnight are sometimes the occasion to kiss his crush or to hug his friends, but this year again, we avoid the wind, the "hugs" and the rolling of shovels.
