The Russian Supreme Court pronounced this Tuesday, December 28, the dissolution of Memorial.
Founded in 1989, it was one of the most respected NGOs, the centerpiece of the defense of the fight against repression in contemporary Russia and the keeper of the memory of the victims of the Gulag.
By liquidating the organization, the Russian authorities are continuing their tireless repression against civil society.
Analysis by Catherine Gousseff, historian, research director at CNRS and member of the Mémorial France.
